Title : Observational constraints on the standard cosmological model :    successes and failures.

Abstract : In this talk I review modern cosmological observations, and highlight the considerable success of the standard cosmological model in fitting various data sets. However, as data becomes increasingly precise, tensions have arisen between different observations, and furthermore certain anomalies have arisen which suggest that the standard model might be incomplete. This talk will provide a brief review of the current status of late time observational cosmology, and the successes and potential failures of the standard model.

======Oct 02 (Sun)===========

  • Stephen Appleby-II:  10:00 a.m.

Title : Alternative dark energy models

Abstract : The standard cosmological model posits that the late time accelerated expansion of the Universe is due to a constant vacuum energy. There are an increasing number of reasons to question this assumption, which has led to the formulation of numerous alternative models of dark energy. In this talk I review scalar field dark energy and certain generalisations of Einstein gravity, which may help to resolve some of the observational tensions that have recently been reported.

  • Masahide Yamaguchi-II  11:00 a.m.
